We had the pleasure of interviewing Emilie Rawlings, the inspiring author behind Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation. Her debut book is not only a powerful personal story of resilience, but also a practical guide to living a mindful, love-centered life. In this exclusive interview, Emilie shares her journey, her creative process, and what’s coming next in her literary adventure.
L Magazine: Is Foundation your first book?
Emilie Rawlings: Yes, it’s my debut and the first of many! I’m currently developing a course that builds on the themes of the book to help readers find and sustain balance and love in their lives. Next up is the continuation of my “Foundation” series: Transformation is planned for next year, followed by the final book in the trilogy, Manifestation.
L Magazine: What inspired you to write Foundation?
Emilie Rawlings: My book Foundation: Love. Mindfulness. Meditation. is truly a book of hope. It was born from my personal journey specifically my breakdown in 2016, which became the catalyst for transformation. I wanted to share not only the story of that experience but also the insights and tools that helped me reframe my identity and build the life of my dreams. The book offers simple, practical steps, as well as companion meditations to create a fully immersive experience reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
L Magazine: What do you hope readers will take away from Foundation?
Emilie Rawlings: My biggest hope is for the reader to experience full integration. I want the teachings to become a part of them not just inspiration for a moment, but tools for a lifetime. Whether it’s to prevent a future breakdown or to recover from one, this book is meant to be a gentle but powerful companion.
L Magazine: What advice would you give to aspiring writers who are afraid to begin?
Emilie Rawlings: Write what you love. Write when it feels good. And most importantly, have fun with it! This is your time, and your thoughts matter more than you know.
L Magazine: Where can readers find your book?
Emilie Rawlings: You can find Foundation on Amazon.
L Magazine: Now for a fun one – if you were to pick a lipstick or lip balm, what would it be?
Emilie Rawlings: Oh, I’d go with a nude lip balm. While yellow is my favorite color, I love the idea of discreet beauty, nothing flashy, but definitely something that makes people take a second look.
L Magazine: If we lost you in a bookstore, where would we find you?
Emilie Rawlings: Most likely in the science fiction section! I’m a huge fan of Dune. But I also love books that explore the mind and the soul, a Course in Miracles really impacted me. And I’d be remiss not to mention Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky, such a fascinating psychological journey.
L Magazine: What else should readers know about you?
Emilie Rawlings: You can visit my website www.emilierawlings.com for an overview of my work and upcoming projects. I’m also really active on Instagram (@emilie.rawlings) and Clubhouse (@emilierawlings), where I love engaging in conversations about mindfulness and self-care.
